Christie Michelle Stewart is a fine artist currently residing in Portland, OR with her husband Paul, daughter Beatrix and dog Hue.
Up until 2006, Christie was largely self-taught with an aptitude for drawing and painting. Influenced by the old masters and painters of the 19th century, she sought out training to match her desire for craft, providing the ability to express those magical influences that made her fall in love with art to begin with.
Enter: The Florence Academy of Art, summer 2006. Here she found an approach to art from a traditional perspective and met her future full time teachers and mentors Magda and Matthew Almy. In 2007, after returning to the United States and realizing how much there was left to learn, she moved to Chicago, IL and began her long artistic journey at The Ravenswood Atelier.
Since studying, her paintings have been acquired by a number of private collections and seen in many regional and national art shows. She was featured in the top tier of Fine Art View’s ‘BoldBrush Competition’, included in the ‘Salon International Exhibitions’ in San Antonio, TX hosted by The Greenhouse Gallery, featured at the Rogue Valley Art Gallery in Medford, OR, and APU Gallery in Ashland OR. Old Salt Marketplace is currently featuring new and past works while she works on her solo show for November 2015 at Optixpdx on Mississippi in Portland OR.
She is currently working on commissions and accepting students for private instruction.
